It has been really hot in Finland this summer; last time it was this hot in 1930's. We have mainly been home and have done our daily walking very late in the evenings. It has been cooler inside the house than outside in the garden. But 8.8.2010 we will be active and participate the Old English Sheepdog Specialty in Lohja with the team of three dogs: Alma, Maija & Liinu and with some younger Old Cobbler's dogs.
The main activity has taken place in my head when I have tried to found a male for Alma whose season should take place in September-October. Unfortunately we didn't get any puppies with Liinu and Jack so our trip to St Petersburg was mainly tourism. I'm also dreaming to get a puppy for myself in the near future. Suddenly I realized I'm surrounded by rather old dogs; Maija is now 11,5 years and Alma is 6 years. On the photo below is Bete, Old Cobbler's Bet Bombastic. Bete is a big brother of Maija as well as Brandy who lives with Marika in Peipohja.
Kesä on kulunut pääasiassa kotosalla, mikä sopii tähän hellekesään jota elämme parhaillaan Suomessa. Mutta 8.8.2010 osallistumme Vanhaenglanninlammaskoirat ry:n erikoisnäyttelyyn ja mukaan lähtevät Alma, Maija ja Liinu sekä nuorempia Old Cobbler's -koiria eri puolelta Suomea.Mutta sen verran aktiivinen olen kesälomalla ollut, että olen yrittänyt löytää Almalle seuraavan ja viimeisen sulhasen. Mielessä on jo pidemmän aikaa itänyt myös haave uudesta omasta koirasta. Yhtäkkiä omat koirat kotona ovat aika iäkkäitä nyt kun Maija on 11,5 vuotta ja Alma 6 vuotta. Alman juoksun pitäisi alkaa syys-lokakuussa eli tässä on vielä sopivasti aikaa tarkastuttaa Alman silmät. Ikävä kyllä Liinulle ja Jackille ei tullut pentuja ja Pietarinmatka oli siis yksinomaan turismia. Tosin hieman erilaista lomailua koiran kanssa kuin mitä se olisi ollut muutoin, mutta kukapa nyt seikkailulomaa pelkäisi?
